A few months ago, I decided that I needed to find a new and innovative way to share and develop my passion for digital marketing. A way that would lay the base ground for the future of online content sharing. There had to be something more. Something beyond the already familiar giant corporations and their constant unannounced algorithm changes. Not to mention the cosmic paid search prices with questionable results. I knew it was time for another internet revolution. This is how I heard about Web3 and, ultimately, the ICP Ecosystem, which allows people to build and host anything they can think of.

By the way, if you are passionate about innovation and like building apps online, I highly recommend checking out Dfinity’s Supernova Hackathon. As of writing this, more than 2900 devs have already signed up and are realizing their ideas as we speak.

My overall goal in my career is to help people find what they’re passionate about and benefit from it.

Also, to use that knowledge to create their communities, and find their true marketing path within Web3. But in order to do so, I needed to find out the same thing for myself.

I’ve always said that in order to be able to fully understand a product, you would need to spend some time using it yourself. So I dived into the ICP ecosystem. My dapp category of choice, of course, was anything related to social media and content creation. Here’s what makes the Internet Computer so fascinating to me.

1. Not just another cryptocurrency.

Ever since I started talking more about the Internet Computer Ecosystem online, I’ve received many comments from people that are disappointed by the way the price of ICP suggests that it might be just another misleading scheme. And I get that. If I had seen how the price of ICP behaved through the past year, without having done my own research, I would have thought the same thing.

But the truth is in the details. The way I got introduced to the ICP ecosystem was through a digital marketer’s perspective.

The first dApp I stumbled upon was an already established alternative of Reddit called DSCVR. And this is just one of the many amazing projects currently developing throughout the ecosystem. The thing that really caught my attention was how many people actually feel inspired to build the future of Web3 on the Internet Computer. What’s more exciting is that there are already so many decentralized apps that you can use right now and get on board with the future of the internet.

The thing is, we need to focus more on the innovative technology behind it. This is what I truly believe in.

Within my field of expertise, we say that the best marketing strategy is to come up with a solution for a common problem that people need. I think that the time for innovation for the solution seekers has come. It’s called Web3. And the Internet Computer will lead us to it.

2. There’s always something new to be excited about.

Especially now, at the peak of the Supernova hackathon. There are so many ideas coming left and right from motivated people that contribute to the development of Web3. For example, did you know that we now have our own ICP search engine? You can get a more in-depth review here, or you can explore it for yourself, as it’s already fully operating.

What makes everything even more exciting is that the people working on all these amazing platforms come from different backgrounds, specializing in different areas. They all have one goal in common – to make the internet a better and safer place for everyone.

3. Community governance and moderation is the purest form of decentralization!

Nowadays we are so used to having big tech monopolizing the internet and the applications we use in our day-to-day life. All known internet platforms are currently being bound by single entities’ chosen terms and conditions, or are flawed in a way that allows automation (which, let me be clear, is not always a bad thing, when used with measure) to get in the way of organic SEO strategies. I can’t even count the times I was in search of some good digital marketing discussions within online communities, and all I stumbled upon were offers for email lists for unethical newsletter campaigns.

Now, imagine a platform, that has live moderation from the people that are actually using it. There’s more. As a moderator, you get to be a part of the driving force of your favourite dapp, but you can also get rewards by voting with the majority on certain topics.

This is what our friends at modclub.app are currently developing. A decentralized content moderation platform, which connects its community to dApps that need some sort of moderation or proof of humanity verification.

Here’s a breakdown of how it works:

If you want to be a part of it, you can now sign up here

4. There’s already a dApp for that!

We already have an IC twitter, IC medium, IC TikTok, and so many more. What makes them unique, is that they are all built with one common idea- to eliminate the so-called “big tech” companies, with their endless requirements, which we have already discussed in previous articles.

All of this gives people the freedom to create whatever they want on the ecosystem, gain from it, and fully own it, without having to worry about the “middle man” taking a portion of their earnings.

Internet Identity: The best thing about Web3 applications is that you can use one single Internet authentication ID for all of them. If you have already signed up there, you would know that it doesn’t need any personal information in order for you to be able to use it. It relies entirely on biometrics.

5. You don’t have to be a developer to build on the IC.

I don’t know how to code. As a marketer, I, of course, have some basic knowledge of HTML, and CSS..and that’s pretty much it. So when I heard about the IC ecosystem, my first thought was “Yes, this is where I would build my next big website!!! “

Imagine the surprise on my face when I realized that building on the IC might not be as easy as I thought.

Thankfully, there’s already a dApp for that too!

ICME – The no-code website builder on the Internet Computer. The platform is so intuitive and is made very easy to use. Shameless plug alert: Check out my website there at icpbg.live 🙂

And if you wish to learn how to build on the IC, you can always start by learning MOTOKO. This is the IC’s “native” coding language. Check it out here.

6. There’s a place for everything and everybody.

As I already mentioned above, the people that are within the Internet Computer ecosystem, all come from different backgrounds and have different skill sets. What is truly fascinating to me is that they are all so connected and supportive of each other. There’s constantly somebody willing to help and assist you with whatever query you might have. Because they know that in order for us to be able to make the IC ecosystem reach its true potential, we need to grow and build together.

In order to create a great product, you would need to have strong community support behind it that believes in it. I am all for ICP, as it’s the fastest-growing and fully functional web3 ecosystem currently existing.

In conclusion…

There are so many dApps in different categories currently waiting to be discovered and so much more in the making. My advice for all of you reading this is to focus on the technology behind this very special blockchain and find what best fits your field of interest.

Of course, I would be taking a closer look at everything that has to do with social media, content sharing, and marketing, as this is what fascinates me the most as an aspiring digital marketer.

So many good things will come out in the next few months, and I will be here covering all of them for you. Stay tuned.
