There are many aspects to consider when looking into how SEO has developed through the years. More than ever, the need to focus on how the marketing world is shifting, is rising. The development of web3 and blockchain ecosystems raises the question: How will SEO change in the future?

The way we understand the concept of SEO today is built upon years of development. Mainly through studying search engine algorithms and how they constantly improve. Our need for improvement is one of the fundamental driving forces that help us reach sustainability and growth for the products that we are marketing.

A few words about SEO

The abbreviation SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. If you are reading this, my guess is that you already are familiar with that term. In a few words, through SEO strategies, we build websites, blogs, create advertisements, and drive more traffic toward our projects.

Whether you are a digital marketer, a blogger, or you just want to reach a broader following. Chances are you’ve probably implemented SEO methods in one way or another.

What does an SEO process look like for a digital marketing specialist?

One of the most important things when creating a search engine optimization strategy is by discovering your niche audience and creating a list of popular topics among them.

The next step is keyword research. Another vital step of any SEO checklist.

We need to hop on the AI train!

The thing is, with the development of Al and machine learning technologies, computers will be able to understand the meaning behind the information we put out, instead of just looking for simple keywords. This means that long-tail keywords, which we would input through search engines should be formed into “human-like” logical sentences, which means that it would be very important to know how search questions are framed.

For example, if you need to know that currency is used in Romania, the query wouldn’t be “Romania currency”, but rather something more like “Hey Siri, what is the currency of Romania?”

Voice searches are more conversational, this is why I even called them human-like a few sentences ago.

Personalization

As we might quite easily notice, another thing that AI and Web3 will bring would be personalized search. Even though Google is currently implementing algorithms that already are doing quite a good job, the Web3 ecosystems would be more powerful and interactive.

For example, you may search for something like “What should I wear today”, and the search engine will put out results based on your location, weather forecast, and purchase history.

Web3 is all about community.

We all know that the best marketing strategy is the word-of-mouth method. This will be true for the evolution of the internet as well.

The new generations of social media platforms exist on blockchain ecosystems. I’m here to share the ones that are most promising.

At their core, web3 platforms are decentralized. There is no single individual or entity that acts as the “middle man” between the platform and its users. Web3 platforms’ governance and moderation is their communities, which makes the word-of-mouth method even more essential in SEO.

Just like Google’s algorithms are based on relevancy. The more people talk about your product, the higher you are likely to rank on the first pages of search engines.

There are many communities on decentralized applications forming as we speak. What’s even better about them is that there’s room for all niches and groups. Since web3 will work as a semantic web, those niches would be more connected than ever!

Some of the most promising decentralized social media platforms today exist on the Internet Computer and can be accessed right away.

Internet Identity

In order to be able to use those platforms, all you need to do is to create your own internet identity. You would then be able to access all of them without having to provide any personal information.

In conclusion:

The future of SEO belongs to web3. It is vital for us to start preparing for what’s yet to come with the development of blockchain technologies.
